Information Security Officer 2 (Cybersecurity Awareness)
Job Overview
The Ministry of Technology and Innovation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Information Security Officer 2 to join their Cybersecurity division. As an ISO2, you will play a critical role in protecting Alberta's digital future by leading impactful cybersecurity awareness initiatives and championing a security-first culture.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide trusted security guidance to stakeholders
- Design and deliver engaging cybersecurity awareness programs
- Monitor the evolving threat landscape and support risk mitigation strategies
- Support disaster recovery planning and testing

Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a related training and/or communications role
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Cybersecurity expertise, including experience with social engineering tactics, phishing attacks, and other human-targeted threats
Equivalencies
- A related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of four years related experience
- A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and minimum of five years related experience
Assets
- Experience with phishing simulation platforms and security awareness tools
- Ability to measure the effectiveness of awareness campaigns and derive meaningful metrics
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI and the Azure suite of products
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, high-quality briefings for executive management
- Experience with utilizing AI tools and AI-powered cybersecurity tools and techniques
Work Arrangements
- Permanent full-time position
- 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Remote work across Alberta (must reside in Alberta)
- Eligible for remote work
