Job Overview

The Ministry of Technology and Innovation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Information Security Officer 2 to join their Cybersecurity division. As an ISO2, you will play a critical role in protecting Alberta's digital future by leading impactful cybersecurity awareness initiatives and championing a security-first culture.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide trusted security guidance to stakeholders

Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a related training and/or communications role
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Cybersecurity expertise, including experience with social engineering tactics, phishing attacks, and other human-targeted threats

Equivalencies

  • A related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and a minimum of four years related experience
  • A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and minimum of five years related experience

Assets

  • Experience with phishing simulation platforms and security awareness tools
  • Ability to measure the effectiveness of awareness campaigns and derive meaningful metrics
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI and the Azure suite of products
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, high-quality briefings for executive management
  • Experience with utilizing AI tools and AI-powered cybersecurity tools and techniques

Work Arrangements

  • Permanent full-time position
  • 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Remote work across Alberta (must reside in Alberta)
  • Eligible for remote work
