The Ministry of Technology and Innovation is seeking a collaborative and solutions-focused individual to fill the role of Information Security Officer 3 (Cybersecurity Awareness). This position is a full-time, permanent role located remotely across Alberta, with a salary range of $3,756.86 - $4,976.09 biweekly.

Role Overview

As an Information Security Officer 3, you will lead high-impact cybersecurity awareness initiatives, protect critical government information, and foster collaboration across public and private partners through CyberAlberta. You will manage and execute comprehensive cybersecurity awareness programs, cultivate a strong security culture, and ensure alignment with leadership expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Track effectiveness of cybersecurity awareness program
  • Stakeholder engagement and outreach
  • Leadership: mentor and coach junior staff, act as a service team leader and supervisor
  • May manage and coordinate projects or sets of activities

Requirements

  • Automate insights and personalize stakeholder engagement
  • Create tailored, high-impact materials using AI-assisted content generation
  • Develop and track KPIs using AI to surface trends and predict outcomes

Qualifications

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in IT leadership/supervisory role
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and best practices
  • Security certification such as CISSP, SANS, CEH, or equivalent
  • Equivalencies: a related two-year diploma and 6 years of experience, or a related one-year certificate and 7 years of experience

Assets

  • Experience conducting research using open sources
  • Knowledge of network protocols and how adversaries utilize them to facilitate intrusions
  • Functional in one or more programming language (e.g., Python)
  • Expertise in effectively communicating technical information to diverse audiences

Notes

  • Term of employment: permanent full-time position
  • Hours of work: 36.25 hours/week, Monday to Friday
  • Location: remote across Alberta
  • A written assessment may be required as part of the interview process
  • Final candidates will be required to undergo enhanced security screening
